The weather looks promising for the Beach Party at this year’s Silverton Street Market and come rain or shine it is sure to be a brilliant day. Free car parking is available in Up Exe Lane (just before the village on the left hand side as you come up from the main Exeter to Tiverton road).
There’s enough food to feed several armies, including vegan ones, also burgers, crepes, pizza, coffee, and Cream Teas served in the Methodist Church Hall. There will be live music and children’s entertainment all day, craft stalls to meander through, and in keeping with the beach party theme, there’s a ‘super surfer’ to try your hand or legs at, a giant deckchair and a children’s beach treasure hunt – collect the Clues sheet from the Face Painting Tent on the Little Rec. There is also a bouncy castle, the inimitable ‘Dan the Hat’ and Silverton School Art Work will be on display in St Mary’s Church.
Grown up entertainment includes a raffle with some amazing prizes, a specially crafted beer from the Exe Valley Brewery, aptly named ‘Exe on the Beach’, a Beach Bar run by the Twinning Association serving Pimms, Prosecco and stunning Cocktails and, towards the end of the day, the ever popular Tug of War. The day’s activities will end with a play list so you can chill out, have another beer or cocktail and just listen to some music while the kids run off the last of their energy.
If you are lucky enough to get tickets for the evening event ‘Life’s a beach…Party on’ the line up is impressive with ‘Still Hate thatcher, Reckless and Lazy Snacks’ .With a hog roast and in house bar what’s not to like.
So don’t miss this year’s Silverton Street Market Beach Party. Everyone is invited; come in fancy dress if you are brave enough and enjoy ‘the best value day out’ with all the family for £2.50 adults, 50p children.
