Things to do at Street Market

Every year we aim to provide a great day out for the family. In fact Silverton Street Market has been called: “The best day out in Devon”. Each year our most popular attractions come back, and each year we feature new talent.

Activities

This year, as part of our Wild West theme, we have a bucking bronco competition running all day. Do come and put your stamina and riding skills to the test! Children should be well entertained on the Little Rec where there is lots happening for them including performances from Punch and Judy (new this year), Dan the Hat (popular as ever), face painting and bouncy castles.

Music through the day

We have some great music lined up, both live and playing throughout the village. We start off with the Crediton Town and at 10:00am on the little rec, followed by (in keeping with the theme) OddSox at 12:30pm. OddSox will be back later in the day, meanwhile The Mangled Wurzles will be performing outside the Lamb Inn from 12pm until 4pm. Check out the Lamb’s website for updates.

Many enjoy the Street Market so much they don’t want to leave! So this year we’re extending the activities on the Little Rec. After the fancy dress competition at 3pm, the raffle at 3:30pm and the tug-of-war at 4pm we will enjoy our second performance of the day from Odd Sox, playing some Country and Western classics.

Food and Drink

We hope you also enjoy the variety of food and drink stalls on offer this year, mainly located in Red Zone. Our Pimms and Prosecco tent is back on the Little Rec, as is our Exe Valley Brewery ‘Pop-Up Pub’ where you can enjoy a pint of ‘Silverado’ brewed locally for the Street Market.

Food and drink will continue on the Little Rec until the early evening. We hope you’re ready for the Hoedown!

Story Time by Lily Pond Books

Delve into the Wild West, hear daring stories about cowboys and cowgirls. Practice your ‘YeeHaa’s’. Try your hand at lassoing a bull (parents do not fear no real animals will be in attendance). All proceeds will go to the Street Market to support the fantastic work of our children’s organisations. Find ‘Lily Pond Books’ by the Bus Stop near the shop in the Red Zone.
