Twinning, competition news and music update

What a glorious Easter break! Here’s hoping our Silverton Sands Beach Party will be equally blessed with good weather – things are gradually taking shape. Our French Twinning friends will be in Silverton that weekend so it will be lovely to be able to welcome them to the Street Market. Already a free barrel of beer has been sponsored from Exe Valley Brewery who support us every year, as does The Lamb Inn. Enterprise have donated a free van for the weekend; we have received generous sponsorship from RGB, McKinley White and Whitton and Laing and negotiations are well underway with other potential benefactors. There is still time to place an advertisement in the Street Market Programme so please contact for details.

The competition to design the cover for the programme was enthusiastically pursued and we had a lovely time choosing between the posters designed and drawn by the children at Silverton School.  They were all fab but we chose Hannah Hudson’s (year 4)  for the programme and poster.  Others will be used throughout the programme and all will be laminated and displayed at the Street Market.

A reggae band is booked for lunch time on the little Rec and ‘Still Hate Thatcher’ are playing in the evening event along with Reckless and Lazy Snacks. The ever popular Tug of War will be held on the Little Rec. at 4.30pm straight after the Raffle draw. We are hoping that local groups, organisations, clubs, pubs, churches etc will put out  a team. There will be three categories: men, women, primary.   Contact John (861423) for enthusiastic support.

The Street Market Committee meets once a month at 8pm in The Lamb Inn. Please come along and share your ideas. The next meeting is tonight (24th of April) and the one after on Tuesday 21st May.
